MORPH
MORPH – Mindfulness as an Opportunity for Reflection, Positivity and Healing
Schools traditionally tend to deal with disruptive children and young people in a behavioural way – using a staged approach of rewards, but more often sanctions. But what if the consequence of unkind or disruptive behaviour involved an opportunity to reflect on the source of that behaviour, increasing a child’s self-understanding and sense of self-worth?
Headroom has developed MORPH – Meditation as an Opportunity for Reflection, Positivity and Healing – to be used instead of the more traditional ‘detention’ in schools.
It includes breathing techniques, guided meditations and an opportunity to talk through what happened and alternative ways of dealing with situations in the future. MORPH can be tailored in a graded fashion to suit lunchtimes, after school and/or Friday after school provision.
